Shoe Haiku
Feet need the comfort
Stylish shoes complete the look
Strut with confidence

You’ve heard it before, you’ll hear it again: shoes complete the outfit.
Shoes complete the outfit. We cannot stress enough the importance of this often overlooked necessity—it’s not an accessory. Shoe styles seem to exemplify trends and they are a dead giveaway as to how little or much you are up-to-date with your appearance. Shoes are your time to shine—or matte, depending on the outfit.

Here are some do’s and don’ts for footwear this Spring:

• DO match the silhouette of your outfit. Slimmer pants warrant slimmer soles.
• DON’T wear bowling shoes unless you’re bowling—no exceptions.

•DO wear brown shoes with dark and light suits alike for business or for a less formal celebration.
•DON’T forget to polish your dress shoes once every 4-5 wears.

•DO buy shoes snug, but not tight. Leather and other natural materials tend to stretch over time and form to your foot.
•DON’T buy cheaply made shoes. They can affect your posture and cause you to become more tired.

Blazer For Men carries shoes ranging from ultra casual to formal, but has a particularly strong range of smart-casual shoes—perfect for dressing up a pair of jeans or khakis. Come in and browse through over 40 styles of shoes from around the world.

New Spring/Summer 2012 Collections

The days are getting longer and the layers are getting lighter—don’t forget to swing by Blazer For Men to get the Spring back into your step! Here are the top 5 reasons to revitalize your wardrobe for the Spring/Summer 2012 season:

5. Updating your wardrobe is a sign you’ll maintain your appearance for years to come. Dump those old chunky shoes, and those around you will notice your style update. Few things go as far in terms of staying youthful-looking (not to mention feeling great) as a new pair of shoes appropriate to the climate. Take note that by ‘new’ we mean both unworn and stylish.

4. You’ll look better in photos. Whether you enjoy quiet picnics by the lake, or taking your friends out in your 150ft yacht on the lake, a camera phone is rarely out of reach—especially in the summer. Look back on this summer fondly and reminisce about the great memories that were had, and not the frumpy polo you wore in every. single. picture.

3. It’s not what people think—but it kind of is. As much as we don’t like to admit it, our first impressions are rarely made vocally. Dressing like you give a damn creates the impression that you actually give a damn—which helps people shape a favourable opinion of you before you even say a word. Finally, people that give a damn tend to attract other people that give a damn.

2. Your boss (or employees) will notice. They just do. They will notice that you take pride in your appearance and by extension your surroundings (including them!) If you’re the boss, set the tone by wearing lighter pants, a pop of colour or even short sleeves (30ºC+). If you’re trying to become the boss, outshine your competitors for maximum effectiveness, but remember to stay classy.

1. You’ll feel good. When you know you look good, you feel good. Studies have shown that feeling like you look good will not only give your self-esteem an extra boost, but it may also affect how others perceive you. People who are more attractive are seen as more intelligent, happier, and more competent overall.† What’s better than feeling good—especially if it means you get preferential treatment that makes you feel even better? It’s a wonderful vicious circle.

Be the first to make a great impression.

Don’t miss out: Blazer For Men buys limited quantity in any particular style, and once it sells out, it’s gone forever! Check out our lookbook for just a peek of what’s in store, but stop by for over 4200 square feet of premium brands, service and style.

† Source

It all began in the 1940′s, when Ted Lipson opened his haberdashery in downtown Toronto. Having difficulty finding shirts that lived up to his exacting specifications, Ted decided to enter the manufacturing business, and in 1958 incorporated T. Lipson & Sons Limited. Ever since, the Lipson name has been synonymous with a tradition of fine tailoring and craftsmanship.

Each Lipson shirt is made to exacting specifications using only the finest fabrics and trimmings. Each component, from threads to buttons to interlinings, undergoes thorough testing before being introduced into the collections. Lipson’s aim is to provide customers with the finest shirts available, and they are constantly assessing quality yardsticks to achieve this goal.

Lipson currently offers two fits to meet the demands of today’s discerning clientele. The Classic fit is a generous cut for those who like their shirts roomy, while the Contemporary fit offers a cleaner, more svelte silhouette. However, Blazer For Men offers an additional “Flex” fit, incrementally increasing proportions with each neck size, as opposed to the standard S-M-L-XL sizing scheme.

From Italy to Spain, Lipson scours the globe in search of the finest fabrics available. Working with the worlds top luxury mills such as Thomas Mason and Canclini, Lipson even helps in the development of exclusive patterns and yarns. From 120 two-ply cottons to novelty blends, each fabric is chosen with care to ensure you’re wearing only the best.

From lock-stitched buttons and over 20 stitches per inch, each Lipson shirt is defined by quality details. Contrast button holes and button sew, hot-dyed buttons and a variety of contrast trimmings add flair to traditional garments, while the finest Wendler interlinings ensure your Lipson shirt will withstand the test of time.

In the Spring/Summer 2012 season the Strellson Premium collection is inspired by influences from both nature and technological components, and in form and colour it builds a bridge to the modern urban lifestyle of tomorrow. The natural elements are expressed in a great variety of facets, as the inspiration for the feel of the cloth, for surfaces and particularly for the colours. As a contrast, these natural elements are juxtaposed with technical and functional aspects.

The tension between these elements is reflected particularly in the use of linen, cotton and wool combined with technical fibres such as PES, PA, and metal, but also with modal and viscose. These give the fabrics a naturally flowing lightness which allows them to make their effect as faux unis more by means of the structure of the yarn than by patterns. This produces a dynamic surface and a three-dimensional appearance. Coatings and finishes play an equally important role in Spring/Summer 2012, because they create the contrasts between matt and glossy effects.

A new cool, bright basis of white, chalk, off-white/sand, stone, through to graphite is predominant and over the various delivery dates it will be contrasted with different rich colour groups such as green, blue (inspired by natural indigo dyes) as well as orange and yellow. Colour is presented mainly as a sharp break with the cool elements, but is nevertheless also interpreted specifically as an overall surface, creating a fashionable whole.

The silhouette is expressed by means of a reduced, clear shape which seems almost graphic, and yet it is flowing. Narrow lapels, straight front edge sharply angled crochets and fine edge stitching emphasise this on individual garments. In summer 2012 both slim, close-fitting parts of the collection and soft, unstructured ones, equipped with smart sporty details like zips and a mixture of fabrics in the detail, create a bridge to the outerwear. These items in the collection make the overall look seem less severe, and follow the new concept men have of a smart, formal casualness. Traditional dress codes are newly interpreted and logically express a new kind of manliness in which “being” is increasingly important.

Did you know that the modern necktie traces back to the Thirty Years’ War in 1660? In celebration of its hard-fought victory over the Ottoman Empire , the formidable regiment from Croatia visited Paris , where the soldiers were presented as glorious heroes to Louis XIV — a monarch well known for his eye toward personal adornment. It so happened that the officers of this regiment were wearing brightly colored handkerchiefs fashioned of silk around their necks, which struck the fancy of the king, and he soon made them an insignia of royalty as he created a regiment of Royal Cravattes.

The word “cravat” is derived from the à la croate—in the style of the Croats, and so the origin of the modern necktie is born.

To find out a more detailed history, type in History of the Necktie in Google.

A properly coordinated shirt, tie and suit combination is a work of art. It anchors an opinion of you before you even introduce yourself. It can be the difference between feeling confident and feeling self-conscious—a massively detrimental psychological obstacle when under pressure during that important pitch or time to self-promote.

A crafty, yet elegant shirt and tie combo can help keep you put together from the outside in—which makes it a wonderful gift that gives throughout the year. There’s nothing boring about confidence and the full attention of your audience.
